I don’t know how it happened, but somehow I have a six-year-old. I know that everyone says it, but the year’s sure do go by fast. Colton just celebrated his birthday last week and it was the first time since the pandemic we’ve been able to throw him a party, and the first time we’ve invited both family friends and school friends.

I really wanted to make this a fun day for Colton and spent forever scouring google looking for a unique idea. I was so excited when I found Foam Fighters, an indoor Nerf arena in Edmonton. It’s like a paintball arena, but with Nerf blasters. The kids all wear safety glasses (we do this at home too) and have access to so many fun Nerf blasters–there’s a whole wall to choose from.

The kids had so much fun, Colton is still talking about it a week later. It was run really well, the kids had an hour to play in the arena and then we got a party room for another 45 minutes after that for pizza, cake and presents. There was a ref inside the arena the whole time, making sure everything ran smoothly and helping the kids exchange blasters. We had a couple younger kids in the group too, so my husband went in to help and make sure the little guys didn’t have any trouble.

The party package included pizza and pop from their on-site café, Rebite Café, and the pizza was delicious. We’ve hosted birthday parties at other places in the city before and this was the best pizza we’ve had.

Long story short, I would definitely recommend Foam Fighters for your kids birthday party–honestly we’re even talking about a group of us adults going for a birthday party ourselves that’s how much fun it was. There’s also a Gamer’s Lounge on-site that you can add on to your birthday party package if you’ve got a video game loving kid.
